Seven Years ago, I received a vision for my life and it not only changed my life, but it change the course of my life as well.  The purpose of this page is to be a life changing page that helps individuals or businesses find a vision that will have a positive impact in their community, nation, or world.  No matter how old or successful you have been to this point, there is always a new vision out there for you to pursue.  Once you discover this vision for your life or business, do not expect the vision to happen over night, but know that you will be in for an amazing experience that will give you a reason to wake up every morning!

Keys to Developing a Vision For Your Life

Since I received my vision at the age 19, it has been my mission to help as many people as possible find a positive vision for their life. Over the past seven years of trying to help as many people as possible find a positive vision for their life, I have found these principles that I am preparing to share with you become very helpful resources in your process of discovering a vision for your life. One thing I must say before we identify these principles that I have found to be very helpful in helping people find a vision for their life is that vision does not always happen overnight. For some it may be a day, for others it may be a week, and for others it may be a year. But, at the end of the day, you will find these principles I am preparing to show you will be connected to your ultimate vision.

Step 1: What is Vision?

My definition of vision is that vision is the ultimate goal discovered from within to make a positive impact.  In essence, vision is the ultimate goal, that is discovered from within, and is designed to make a positive impact.

Step 2: Vision can be birthed out of past experiences.

Sometime ago, a mentor of mine told me that the thing you are most irritated with is probably the thing your are called to.  In essence, he was showing me that your probably irritated with certain things because you have been called to bring forth a solution in that area.  As you move towards discovering your vision, know that bad and positive experiences can be things connected to your overall vision.

Step 3: Take time to clear your mind

One of the keys to discovering a vision for your life is being able to look within yourself and learn about who you truly are as a person. There are various ways that people get to a state where they can look within themselves. For me, I pray and ask God to reveal to me the things that I need to know about myself. I have found that if he created me, then he knows things about me that I may not know about myself. Once you are in this state of oneness with yourself, then you are ready to move forward into the next set of questions. This particular step may take 10-15 minutes.

Step 4: Write down three things you are gifted at?

I have found that everyone has a gift or talent they are very good at. Whether it is speaking, writing, drawing, or playing sports, we all have a gifts or talents that separate us from others. What I have found about vision is that the gift is usually a great catalyst to making your vision a reality. So, when we are searching for our vision, it is very important that we identify our gifts and talents.

Step 5: Write down three things you love to do?

My father once told me that if you are going to be working at a job for forty plus years, it’s vital that you do something you love. Interestingly, most people that pursue a vision for their life will find themselves either pursuing or doing the vision for a long time. Also, the love that comes with the vision empowers you to overcome obstacles that seem to get in between an individual and their vision. So, if we are going to discover our vision, it’s vital that we identify the things we love because our love is connected to our vision.

Step 6: Write down three professions you would do for free?

As a young man, I heard several people always say that practice makes perfect. In essence, the thing you work at the most is probably the thing you will become the best at; Therefore, this thing you plan to do most of the time on the job should be something you would do for free because to be the best at your vision, it will require you to do things that you will not always be paid for. Also, the greatest job in life is a job that you do because of your passion and excitement in doing it and not for the money. I believe this is an aspect of true vision, something you would do for free and something you would do for free in your spare time.

Step 7: Using the following three questions, how can you make a positive change?

These next two questions are the leadership questions that I attach to helping people find their vision. I believe that all visions must have a positive impact and this question can be the question that drives you toward that desired goal. This is the question that can take some time to answer, but before you identify the vision, I believe it is essential that the vision makes a positive impact.

Step 8: Using the following four questions, how will your vision help others?

I believe that the core essence of life is giving something to someone else. I also believe that we receive a vision because it’s a solution to someone else’s problem. In essence, if you have a vision, the purpose of the vision is to help someone else.

Step 9: Write the Vision

Once you have completed the steps above, the next step for you to do is to write a vision for yourself. If you cannot figure it out yet, talk to people you trust about the process and see if you two can form a vision for your life.

Keys to Creating An Effective Vision for your Business

Throughout my seven years of studying the concept of vision, I have found that almost every successful leader in the business field had some sort of vision before they began. This is something that I believe is a necessity for any company, organization, or enterprise to succeed. In the following two steps, I will give you important concepts that I believe will help you create an effective vision for your business that will guarantee you great results.

Step 1: Clear Your Mind

One of the keys to discovering a vision for your business is being able to get to a place where your mind is clear and you can really analyze the structure and purpose of your organization, company, or enterprise.  For me, I pray and ask God to give me peace of mind so that I can prepare myself to receive something great for my business.  Once you are in this state of oneness with yourself, then you are ready to move forward into the next set of instructions.  This particular step may take 10-15 minutes

Step 2: Create a Vision Using Four Distinct Points

One of my college professors said that a vision should be clear, concise, compelling, and quantifiable.  In essence, your vision should be clear to understand, concise and to the point, compelling to others that may desire to be involved, and something that can be measured by you and others.  Basically, the vision should be have a numerical mark of where you plan to go in the future so that you can judge the impact of your company, organization, or enterprise.  An example of this process could be, “In 2011, our company plans to be number one in our field of interests and reach sales that triple in the next five years”.

Step 3: Strategize & Set Goals

Once you have completed the steps above, the next step for you to do is strategize and set goals on how you plan to attain your companies vision.  This can be done individually or within a management group or team.
