Short Biography

Joshua Fredenburg is a 28-year-old national motivational youth and college speaker that has traveled to 34 different states across the country reaching 1.5 million people with a vision of equipping at least 1 BILLION emerging leaders of this younger generation with information that will enable them to make a positive impact in their family, community, nation, and world. He has written two different books, appeared on multiple television and radio shows, served as the host and executive producer of his own political talk show for the past three years, and has been studying Generations X and Y for the past eight years. Presently, Joshua is completing his Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership, finishing up his third book on Leadership and Generation Y, and is continuing to travel to various colleges and high schools across the country serving as a speaker and special guest for various television and radio shows. In addition to these incredible speaking opportunities, Joshua also delivers a monthly newsletter that consists of inspirational messages, political commentaries, leadership secrets for people that are leading young men and women from Generation Y, and spotlight feature stories of incredible leaders that are part of this younger generation. Over the past year, I have been focusing my attention on leaders under 40 years of age that are truly making a positive impact in their community, nation, and world. The purpose of this leadership watch is to let people know that there are several incredible leaders of our generation from different ethnic, age, and professional backgrounds. This leadership watch has also been created to give recognition to these incredible leaders that are impacting the lives of several people in their community, nation, and world.

Vanessa Van Petten is a 23 year old author and speaker that has dedicated her life towards helping parents and teenagers better relate to another. Her great work is helping parents become more effective mothers and fathers, while teenagers are learning how to be more effective young men and women.

DeVon Franklin is a 28 year speaker and development executive in the entertainment industry. He is playing a major role in creating great films for moviegoers all across the world and is using his spare time to motivate and inspire several individuals through his gift of speaking.

Sumaya Kazi is a 25 year old executive director of The Cultural Connect. The cultural connect is an amazing on-line magazine that features several young men and women professionals who are doing amazing things all throughout the world. As the executive director of this amazing magazine, she has been recognized as one of the top 10 entrepreneurs under 25 in Businessweek and featured on CNN as a young person that rocks.

Erin Gruwell is an amazing woman that has been acclaimed as one of America's greatest teachers and leaders based on her exceptional work with the Freedom Writers, which are a group of students that have joined Erin Gruwell in a mission to transform the education system in a positive way. Just recently in 2007, these amazing individuals had there story turned into a national film entitled, "Freedom Writers".

David Beaumont Smith is the founder and Executive Director of Mobilize.org, an all-partisan nonprofit dedicated to educating, empowering, and energizing youth to become more involved in politics. This exceptional organization has been doing an extremely great job at mobilizing the many youth and young adult political leaders scattered throughout the entire country. One of there signature events was the Party for Presidency which took place last year in Los Angeles, California.

Cousin Jeff is a national speaker, activists, and host for various shows on BET. He is probably one of the most popular African American speakers in the college circuit right now. His tremendous intellect, knowledge, and truth resonates very well with several college audiences. This is definitely an emerging leader on the rise that will continue to impact the lives of several youth and young adults in America.

Mark Zuckerberg is the 25 year old creator and founder of facebook.com, an international phenomenon social site on the web. Some have considered him the Bill Gates of our generation based on his continued success with facebook.com. As this on-line creation continues to impact the lives of several youth and young adults in America, it will be interesting to see what new developments we can expect from Mark in the future.

Iara Peng is the executive director of young people for, a non-profit organization that has a long-term leadership development program that identifies, engages and empowers progressive leaders to promote social change in their communities. For the past few years, this amazing organization has not only reached several youth and young adults in America, but they have played a key role in the development of several emerging leaders in America. All these wonderful accomplishments have been done with Iara Peng as the executive director.

Pastor Irishea Hilliard-Lewis is the NuGen Director of New Light Christian Center Church, where she is the overseer of the Children's Ministry (King's Kids), Youth Ministry (W.I.N.D), and Teen Ministry (The S.T.O.R.M.). She assists the parents in ministry and ministers with parents/teens giving them direction in working through various challenges. Pastor Hilliard-Lewis has spoken to various audiences throughout the entire country and at 30 years of age, she is definitely one of the leading religious leaders of this younger generation.

Veronica De La Garza has served as executive director for the Youth Vote Coalition. Currently, Veronica is the director for Latina Style Magazine. Latina Style broke new ground in 1994 by launching the first national magazine dedicated to the contemporary Latina professional in the United States. Her impact of youth and young adults in America has been tremendous and we can expect to here a lot more from her in the future.
